Connect Kraken spot account
To enable Cryptobasistrade to interact with your account on Kraken in a secure way you need to create API keys for your account on the exchange. These keys allow the Cryptobasistrade platform to obtain information on the balances in your Kraken account when you check your Portfolio dashboard as well as to place orders on the exchange when you are using the Trader tool.
Note that Cryptobasistrade does not store your account information such as balances and only accesses your account when you are actively using the Portfolio dashboard or Trader.
Step 1
If you do not already have an account on Kraken, create it on Kraken website.
Step 2
Navigate to Kraken Pro interface.
Step 3
Go to your account API settings.
Step 4
In the “Spot trading API” section, click “Create API key”.
Enter any name for the API key that would help you identify it, e.g., “Cryptobasistrade”.
Choose the following permissions:
Funds permissions - Query
Orders and trades - Query open orders & trades, Query closed orders & trades, Create & modify orders and Cancel & close orders.
For security reasons, make sure that permissions to Deposit and Withdraw are not chosen. Cryptobasistrade will never ask you to enable these permissions.
Set the “WebSocket interface” option to ON.
Step 5
You need to restrict the API key to specific IP addresses used by the Cryptobasistrade platform. This will make it impossible for third parties to access your account from any other IP addresses even if your key becomes compromised.
Set the “IP address restriction” option to ON.
Without closing the “Add API key” page on Kraken, go to your Profile page on Cryptobasistrade, click “See addresses” and copy all generated IP addresses.
Go back to the “Add API key” page on Kraken and paste the Cryptobasistrade addresses into the relevant field. Separate each address with a comma putting it in the space between each address.
Step 6
Click “Generate key”.
Enter your 2FA code from authentication app.
Copy the API key and the Secret key and add them to your Cryptobasistrade account.
Step 7
Check that you have correctly added the keys by verifying your exchange balances in Portfolio dashboard on the Cryptobasistrade platform.
If you do not have any balance on Kraken or you do have a balance, but do not see it in Portfolio dashboard, check User logs. In either case, open the Portfolio dashboard on Cryptobasistrade first so that the platform can interact with the exchange.
